Healing Vibes Only! Shedding Light on Shadows
I was on TikTok late at night scrolling. My side of TikTok is much more informational and intellectual than expected with a few funny videos sprinkled in. I came across a creator who was speaking about a book she read and that really captured my attention. I was impressed by her ability to put her words together and how descriptive she was in her depiction of the book. I watched the entire video and I went directly to her link in her bio, I clicked it. I saw that she was a writer and on Substack.
I read a few of her pieces and immediately followed her. Now, previous to this, I was dabbling with writing to the wrong audience. I felt as though a few people just didn’t appreciate the art of writing and reading, and seemed very indifferent about the things that I had to share with them. I wrote about this in another newsletter when I spoke about my spirit being called to take my writings where they would be appreciated.

So I answered the call of my ancestors and discovered the world of Substack, not only as a reader, but as a writer, and I have found my people. I look forward to reading the different newsletters, and notes and expanding my consciousness through the vast universe of words and vocabulary. I started writing more and more, and my writing began to evolve and turned out to be quite the compliment to a podcast that I’ve had since 2022.
My podcast started a lot like my writing, just by following the call of Spirit. Watching these things transform and manifest is unbelievable and it all started with shadow work. Now here’s the unbelievable part, two weeks ago I published my first e-book and it’s up and live on Amazon, with sales. “What?” My life is transforming in real-time, and I wanted to share a sneak peek into the book and the inspired podcast episode with you.
Lately, I've been diving deep into my spiritual practices and my creativity is bursting out of my soul. So today, I want to take you through a profound journey that's close to my heart: The 5 Stages of Shadow Work.
The Awakening
It’s important to know that shadow work isn't just a practice; it's an awakening. When we start shadow work, it often stems from a realization that not all is well within us. This was certainly the case for me. After years of peeling back layers of pain and trauma—much of which lay buried deep in the DNA of my ancestors—I realized the depth of healing I needed. Shadow work is not an overnight transformation but more like a persistent, courage-driven path to reclaiming the peace and purpose my spirit yearned for.
Stage One: Self-Reflection and Awareness
The first stage is all about turning inward and acknowledging that change is necessary. For me, it started with meditation and mindfulness, helping me calm the emotional storms within me. Awareness is also about recognizing the traumas, big or small, that shaped us and left us with scars that still sting today.
Stage Two: Recognition and Acknowledgement
Next comes the recognition of our shadows. This stage is all about seeing our inner truths—the good, the bad, and everything in between. It's confronting the parts of ourselves that we've hidden away or expressed in harmful ways. For example, my journey that started with crystals and very quickly elevated to metaphysics, wasn't just about spiritual exploration; it was also about confronting the energies that needed healing.
Stage Three: Understanding and Compassion
The third stage brings healing to the forefront, as we begin to show compassion to ourselves, particularly to our inner child. This is where we start healing those old wounds by understanding and forgiving—not just others, but ourselves too. It's about rebuilding the bridge between our adult self and the child, that precious little kid who experienced those first traumas.
Stage Four: Integration
Integration is where we begin to weave our shadow traits into our personality in healthy ways. It's about learning when and how to express emotions like anger or sadness without letting them control us. Energy healing played a significant role in this stage for me, helping balance and direct my energies where they would be most productive.
Stage Five: Transformation and Growth
Finally, we reach transformation, where the real magic happens. This is the culmination of all previous stages, where we emerge more whole, balanced, and true to ourselves. It's a rebirth into our true selves, where we can live authentically and freely, no longer held back by past pains or traumas.
Embracing the Journey
Remember shadow work is an ongoing process; it doesn't end after the fifth stage. It's a continuous journey of self-discovery and healing. If you're beginning this journey, take it slow, embrace each step, and seek support when needed. Healing isn't linear, and every step forward is a victory.
If this path resonates with you, I've prepared a detailed guide on starting your shadow work journey. Check out www.shadowworkebook.com to download a free copy of the guide. It's filled with insights and practical steps to help you navigate through these transformative stages.
